A Painter's Self-Portrait :: So what do I think about at 3 AM in the morning?

This is third part of a long night of self-examination, an introspective of my own soul as a person, my thoughts, my emotions, my many flaws unmasked. This is my version of what a modern day Painter's Self-Portrait should look like. These days we have many more tools to communicate and express our art and ourselves so last night I thought about painting on a living canvas.

I wanted to upload an unedited and uncensored art video. So as a warning I use a few colorful words that may be considered bad language, I guess I have a bad habit as my frustrations grow I never hide my emotions or as I get tired during the early morning from lack of sleep. Keep that in mind before you view this. Just keeping it real since some people are easily offended. I'm Haitian and colorful language is in my blood.

Haitian Art Videos on Metacafe

While researching how to raise money to fund my art projects

I found out that MetaCafe will pay $5 for every thousand views my video gets on its site. Payment starts after my video reaches 20,000 views and has a rating of 3.00 or higher (too bad for me that all my videos so far have a hard time reaching a rating of 2.00). I guess this would be a good way for a poor painter to earn money for art supplies and pay his rent on time. So I'm going to focus my next video content on Metacafe, if you are reading my blog I hope you will view them and rate them if you enjoyed them.

What is Metacafe?
Metacafe is video site.... a smaller version of Youtube but so far seems rate videos very hard.

I just uploaded some videos today just to test it out and wow... they killed them with bad ratings lol

About the Mural:
"1804" was a very large mural - 16 feet wide x 6.5 feet - mixed media oil pastels, acrylics, cut paper on black board. "1804" is my tribute to Haiti / Haitians. Themes: The beauty of Haiti. The Suffering of Haitians. Refugees "Boat People" sent back home to die, or found drowning for a dream... I worked on this over 2 years from 2000 to 2002. Only the Neg Mawon section is left.

I featured Top Adlerman's Pwoblem Mwen as the music because I really respect Top Adlerman as an artist. Watcha krazem!

I worked on this one for about 4 days now, its not finished.

its a 3 panel piece - I plan to buy some wood at Home Depot and frame each panel with lumber and paint the wood as well so it becomes part of the work.

Spent most of my time in Miami, Florida
I always end up in south florida when I get depressed.

But I moved back to CT living in a huge loft for Artists.
It is great. I lost a lot moving to Texas but I also learned a great deal.

Moving to a town east of Houston, Texas.

I am so stressed and excited at the same time.

nothing sometimes...

nothing last forever and hearts do change
only time knows... if love can grow as your heart chose
I chose yesterday and I found nothing loves me today
sometimes, it is better to think of nothing
then to think of all that has become... nothing

think of nothing... say nothing... hear nothing...
nothing has always been enough
sometimes...
nothing has always been too much
sometimes... just to be nothing

nothing feels safer than nothing
my days sleeps and my nights weeps
nothing is better than the load of all that keeps
I hold on to nothing

so I forget nothing
it is better that I think of nothing
sometimes I need sometime to be all alone
yet I've never had nothing but alone... it is all I have known
nothing sometimes... is something

nothing last forever but nothing seems to stay
nothing seems to fade, nothing stays the same
nothing is driving me, nothing is within me
nothing I can explain... something has broken me into nothing
but to risk nothing means to lose nothing... gain nothing

I'm not a perfect person... sometimes I feel nothing
I have found nothing since there have been nothing between us
sometimes I would love to change who I used to be... just to be something to you
but what if I was nothing to begin with... what reason do I have to change who I use to be?

I do not wish to give up my art but it becomes really hard to be an artist sometimes
I feel so lost... I'm so very tired of everything... I'm not the same person I was before I saw my mother die at 14
I'm not the same artist I was after having left school and lost my vision... seems like a long time ago

so many wasted years

I have not done enough...

I started this blog because I am losing myself
I am losing my life.

Everything I am about to write here is just an attempt at trying to save what little of my sanity I have left
I'm 30 and will be 31 in October this year... So I'm thinking it is time to put my thoughts someplace instead of drowning in them

What I write here I am almost ashamed to know that it has come down to this... just me alone - speaking to my laptop
speaking to my inner-self trying to find peace...

It is raining tonight

earlier I was at the movies alone like always...

I saw MEN ON FIRE and right after that I stayed and saw KILL BILL vol 2

after that I walked home alone... angry... lonely and cold

I enjoy movies... I'm deeply depressed and when I can afford it I escape into the fantasy
I don't care what the movie is most of the time as long as I can go away for a few hours and not be myself
A chance to laugh or cry...

Something is broken in me...

I need to paint soon... I have no supplies... my mind wont rest until I paint something
